Since its founding in 1925, the company has supported government and the electrical and electronics industry worldwide. It has previously carried out extensive work for the European Commission and UK government on RoHS implementation including studies on exemptions, and potential inclusion of Categories 8 (medical) and 9 (monitoring and control) in scope. In the context of the Ecodesign Directive of the European Commission, BIO has been involved in 17 of the 27 preparatory studies since 2006.
